I'm so glad your fur babies are ok Skip.  That's always so scary.  It sounds as though you've got your work cut out for you with the things you have planned.  I'd been thinking of doing afghan squares again here, but I don't know if there would be any interest by others.

hugs,
Judy

Subject: [NeedlecraftPals] Checking In

Hi Sally & Judy and All,
I usually don't have much to report but it has been hectic around here. Our two
Furkids just got back from the animal clinic. Scooter my male was there for six days
Mindy my little female went in on Monday and came home on Thurs with Scooter.
Scooter was one sick little boy. I was sure we'd loose him. We really expected to loose
them both. Mindy wasn't as sick and came out of it quicker and Scooter got better but didn't
really eat well until he was home. Now he won't let me out of his sight.
It was a bacteria infection from  contaminated food, dead animals (ugh) which they don't
Get. They are indoor dogs except when we walk them.)  contaminated water, water in containers, or  pools of still water.  The vets suspected Leptospirosis it's a bacteria common in rural farming areas . We weren't happy about that as it can be passed to humans (us) They tested the dogs for that and it came back negative.
Before we could get too happy  about it they told us the test can come back false negative.
But they are all on medicine for it so I guess all is well.
Lepto is supposed to be rare in the US worst cases in Ireland and Hawaii. But the vets said
This is a rural, farming area and they had had cases of it.
What puzzled us, our dogs have been here, 10, 11 & 12 yrs.  Why now? We don't farm or have animals.
On to a pleasanter note (it very nearly got spoiled when our furkids got sick}  I joined the Bernat Mystery Afghan Crochet Along.  It's made with Bernat Chunky yarn, one of my favorite yarns.
It will be done in 8" squares and finished in Dec., in time for Christmas.  I've never done this
Before but I couldn't reisist when I found out it was made with chunky yarn.
I also found out my four year old Great Grand-Daughter loves stuff animals and I have the cutest cat pattern with big blue eyes and pink fun fur trim.  Looks like I'll be busy.   Click Me!
